I've gotten a few of these messages...
Someone_Awesome_Who_Bought_My_Novel: I love your book so far. I've always wanted to write one, but I don't think I could ever actually make it to the end.
What_I_Would_Say_In_Response_To_You_All_Is: Bullshit. I started trying to write novels over 25 years ago. It took finally making myself commit to a story to do it. Take notes. Do research. Write about what you know. Make it personal. Put part of yourself in the story. Read a lot and gather inspiration from the writers you like. I would never claim to be more creative than the next person. I just kept trying until I finally found myself with a complete story I could sit and write. Don't be afraid to get it wrong...the version of Mulligan currently for sale is EDIT #9.
What_I_Would_Recommend_Is_This: Buy my book (yes, I'll be that self-serving). But look at how I put it together. Because, somehow, after years and years of failed attempts...what I've put out as an eBook is getting a response from people. So, on some level, it works.
What_You_Should_Do_After_That: Sit down in 2011 and write something better. I'll look forward to buying it and reading it. Make it something that means a lot to you. The only way to write is to sit down and type. Even if the story doesn't make sense to you at first. Just keep typing.
Oh_Yeah_Here_Is_The_Site_For_Step_One: http://whereisdavidprast.com
Do it. Then, write yours. If you THINK you have one in you...you do.

Review of my novel, Mulligan, by Andrew Frame
Review by: Andrew Frame on Dec. 04, 2010 :
How do you review the hard work of one of your best friends without either hurting their feelings, or giving the impression that you're polishing a turd?
Fortunately for me, it's neither when if comes to Mulligan.
This is a good yarn.
When I started reading, I only put my reader down for sleep or work. I was pissed when a certain character died. I actually gave Antarctica a good going over on the globe at the library. Since Tommie and I know a lot of the same people, I got my jollies finding the easter eggs. But even if you don't find them, Mulligan is one of those good books that you'll want to finish over the course of a couple nights, and revisit once you've put it in your collection.
And, don't read the last chapter first. Seriously. He's got a wicked-good twist laying to jump you as you round the final bend.
